Model 2511A TESTanDRAIN® - Grooved Single Handle Ball Valve

Model 2511A Grooved TESTanDRAIN® is a 300 PSI rated single-handle ball valve that was specifically designed to provide both the test function and the express drain function required for a wet fire sprinkler system. The Model 2511A provides an alternate handle location from the Model 1011A for multi-directional installations. It features a tamper-resistant test orifice, integral tamper-resistant sight glasses, and a tapped port for system access. The Model 2511A has the added feature of a Model 7000 Pressure Relief Valve with drainage piping. It is designed to relieve excess pressure caused by surges or temperature changes while solving the difficult problem of providing the relief valve with a drainage-piping outlet. Model 2511A complies with the requirements of NFPA 13 which stipulates a pressure relief valve be installed on all gridded systems and downstream of all pressure-reducing valves. Available in 1" and 1-1/4"  and 2" Groove with all specifiable orifice sizes: 3/8" (2.8K), 7/16" (4.2K), 1/2" (5.6K), 17/32" (8.0K), 5/8" (11.2K, ELO), 3/4" (14.0K, ESFR), and K25.

  • Available in 1" and 1¼" and 2" Groove, with all specifiable orifice sizes ³/8" (2.8K), 7/16" (4.2K), ½" (5.6K), 17/32" (8.0K), 5/8" (11.2K, ELO), ¾" (14.0K, ESFR) and K25 as required by NFPA 13, 2007 Edition.
  • The included UL/FM Model 7000 Pressure Relief Valve features a flushing handle and is factory rated at 175 PSI. Other pressure settings are available and may be substituted.
  • Designed to relieve excess system pressure caused by surges or temperature changes as well as solve the difficult problem of providing the relief valve with a convenient drainage-piping outlet.
  • Shipped with relief valve and bypass drain ports plugged to expedite pressure testing the system.
  • A locking kit is available and can be ordered with the valve to provide vandal resistance or prevent unintentional alarm activation.
  • Repair kits are available and the valve does not need to be removed from the system for repair.

    2.1 SPRINKLER SPECIALTY PIPE FITTINGS

    A. Flow Detection and Test Assemblies:

    1. Manufacturers:  Subject to compliance with requirements, available manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the following:
      1. AGF Manufacturing Inc.; Model 2511A TESTanDRAIN. 
      2. <Insert manufacturer's name>.
    2. Standard:  UL's "Product iQ" listing or "Approval Guide," published by FM Global, listing.  NFPA 13, 13R, 13D (as applicable).
    3. Pressure Rating:  300 psig (2070 kPa).
    4. Body Material:  Bronze body, brass stem, impregnated Teflon seat, chrome coated brass ball, and a steel handle with positive stops at the TEST and DRAIN positions
    5. Components:  A tamper-resistant test orifice, integral tamper-resistant sight glasses, a tapped and plugged port for system access, and a steel identification plate.
    6. Test Orifice Size: Nominal [2.8K (3/8 inch), 4.2K (7/16 inch), 5.6K (1/2 inch), 8.0K (17/32) inch, 11.2K (5/8 inch, ELO), 14.0K (3/4 inch, ESFR), K25.2], as required by NFPA 13, latest edition.
    7. Pressure Relief Valve and Drainage Piping: AGF Model 7000 
      1. Pressure Rating: Factory rated at 175 PSI. Other pressure settings available: [165 PSI] [185 PSI] [195 PSI] [205 PSI], [225 PSI] [250 PSI].
      2. Body Material: Bronze body and stainless steel spring
      3. Components: Nylobraid flexible tube, Two ½” NPT by barbed 90-degree elbows, external identification plate, and integral flushing handle to remove debris
      4. ½ inch MIPT inlet, ½ inch FIPT outlet
      5. Relief pressure shall be factory set to project specifications
      6. The relief valve shall operate to the OPEN position between 90% and 105% of the set pressure
      7. The relief valve shall reseat or CLOSE at a minimum of 80% of set pressure.
    8.  Inlet and Outlet Size:  [1 inch Groove] [1-1/4 inch Groove] [2 inch Groove].
    9. Locking Plate Kit (Optional): Provides vandal resistance and prevents accidental alarm activation by locking the valve handle in the “OFF” position.
      1. Locking Plate: Carbon steel.
      2. Lock: 1-1/2 inch wide solid brass with a 3/8 inch chrome-plated hardened steel shackle.
      3. For use with a [3/4 inch] [1 inch] [1-1/4 inch] [1-1/2 inch] [2 inch] valve.
