Concrete and cement: a relationship that is constantly evolving Ready-mix concrete manufacturer Unical S.p.A has been providing technological support nationwide to its parent company, the Buzzi Unicem group, since the latter half of the 1960s. Buzzi Unicem is one of the largest cement producers in the world. Unical designs, manufactures and supplies standard, dedicated and customized concretes, and is also active in the quarrying sector, where it produces and selects aggregates with characteristics suitable for manufacturing durable, high-performance concretes. Research, quality and sustainability: our winning formula Unical ensures the quality of its concrete by carefully selecting the raw materials and constantly evaluating the performance of the mixtures developed in its regional laboratories. Since 1996, the company has been using a Quality Management System that meets UNI EN 9001 standards and was one of the first large concrete producers in Italy to obtain certification. Since 2007, all Unical’s batching plants have received Factory Production Control (FPC) certification as required by the Technical Standards for Construction 2018, and its automated processes ensure that the concrete is of consistent quality with the high-performance characteristics required for building safe and long-lasting works. In 2019, the company initiated the RSS/CSC certification process for its facilities, several of which have achieved the Silver and Gold levels, as a guarantee of greater environmental protection. The Research and Development department is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated building materials technology, and is at the forefront of the search for innovative solutions that combine high quality products with environmental protection.
