Commercial DHW recirculation systems are the target market for this system (¾” to 3”). At the point of hot water distribution in a plumbing system, the electronic mixing valve maintains a constant controlled set temperature of mixed water at the outlet. Despite variations in pressure drop or hot and cold water usage or variations in inlet temperature, the point of distribution mixing valve automatically controls the water temperature to the design set point. Once the water leaves the mechanical room, thermal balancing valves modulate flow to ensure a constant temperature in each of the branch or riser loops. Each balancing valve has a temperature adjustment knob. Flow rates modulate lower in each recirculation line as they come up to set temperature, reducing excess heat loss in the recirculation piping. Point of use mixing valves are used at each fixture to prevent scalding even during a disinfection cycle. This system can operate with or without building automation integration.
