  • Application

Ballet, contemporary, modern and theatrical use, aerobics, zumba, hip-hop, jazz, street, salsa, percussive including flamenco, Irish and tap, multi-purpose use, concerts and for operatic performances.

    Description

The Harlequin Activity sprung dance floor is a permanently installed sprung floor system, based on the well-established ‘triple sandwich’ construction originated by Harlequin over 30 years ago. It’s a fully-floating system with no fixings to the sub-floor and can be laid on any reasonably smooth and flat surface without prior preparation.

    Features and benefits:

    • Harlequin Activity is shock-damped to avoid a ‘trampoline’ effect and provides area and point elasticity to offer identical characteristics across the whole floor.
    • It is an ‘industry standard’ choice with many hundreds of installations worldwide, effectively reducing injuries to both teachers and performers.
    • Harlequin Activity is installed by highly-skilled technical team and all work is fully guaranteed.
    • Finished with solid wood in beech, oak, maple or bespoke.
    • Area elasticity providing 'give' or flexion over the section where a performer lands.
    • Point elasticity offering compression at the point of contact.

Tested in accordance with EN 14904-2006:

    • Shock absorption: 64%.
    • Vertical deformation: 3.8 mm.
    • Area deflection: 7.2%.
    • Rolling load: >1500 N.
    • Theatre Stage Concentrated Load: 3.6 kN/m2 (367 kg/m2).
    • Theatre Stage Blanket Load: 5.0 kN/m2 (509 kg/m2).

    Installation:

    • A polymer damp-proof membrane is laid across the subfloor onto which is placed a layer of cellular polyurethane of proprietary density. Two layers of moisture-resistant semi-flexible panels are then installed and staggered, so that the joins do not coincide.
    • The top layer of panels is bonded to the one below with a non-setting adhesive and fastened mechanically.
    • The damp-proof membrane is folded onto the surface and secured to form a damp-proof seal. Then the solid wood top surface is installed and adhered. Finally, the gap between the flooring and the wall is filled with a matching wooden scotia fitted to the edge of the floor structure to form an attractive edge to the wall.

    Components:

    • Top surface: Approximately 20 mm solid wood surface in oak, beech, maple.
    • Top panel: moisture resistant semi flexible board.
    • Cellular layer: cellular polyurethane.
    • Damp proof membrane: PE membrane.
    • Overall thickness: 52 mm including solid wood surface.
