The Blue Flamed tiles - 2 to 5cm thick - have a blue flamed top surface with a sawn bottom surface and 4 sawn edges for use on floors and walls both indoors and outdoors.
The 'Blue Flamed' mechanical finish is a medium blue-grey surface with a multitude of irregular, slightly glittering, more or less evenly distributed white asperities. Obtained by passing a jet of flame (at an angle of about 45°) over a slice of sawn stone immersed in water, the thermal shock causes the surface grains to break up and gives the specific texture of this finish. Mechanical surfacing is carried out on the large visible surface of the slice (not on the edges or returns), before the finished products are cut to size.
