CPVC Copper Tube Size (CTS) Sample Specification
Fittings:
All hot and cold-water plumbing fittings shall be Copper-Tube-Size constructed from Type IV, Grade I Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) compound with a Cell Classification of 23447 per ASTM D1784. All fittings shall be produced in strict compliance to ASTM D 2846 as manufactured by Spears® Manufacturing Company and consistently meet or exceed the quality assurance requirements of this standard. The fittings shall be manufactured in the USA by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer and shall carry NSF® International seal of approval for potable water applications. All fittings in sizes ½ -2 inch shall be pressure rated at 100 psi for water at 180° Fahrenheit or 400psi @ 73° F. as manufactured by Spears® Manufacturing Company.
Pipe:
All hot and cold water plumbing pipe shall be manufactured from a Type IV, Grade I Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) compound with a Cell Classification of 23447 per ASTM D1784. The pipe shall be manufactured in strict compliance with ASTM D2846 to SDR 11 CTS CPVC specifications, as supplied by Spears® Manufacturing Company and consistently meeting or exceeding the quality assurance requirements of this standard. The pipe shall be manufactured in the USA by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, and shall carry the NSF® International seal of approval for potable water applications. All pipe in sizes ½ - 2 inch shall be pressure rated at 100 psi for water at 180° Fahrenheit or 400psi @ 73° Fahrenheit as manufactured by Spears®Manufacturing Company.
Valves:
All thermoplastic ball valves shall be Copper-Tube-Size sealed unit type constructed from CPVC Type IV Cell Classification 23447. All O-rings shall be EPDM. All valves shall have double stop polypropylene handle. The valves shall be manufactured in the USA by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer and shall carry the NSF® International seal of approval for potable water applications. All valves shall be pressure rated at 100 psi for water at 180° Fahrenheit as manufactured by Spears® Manufacturing Company.
Solvent Cement:
All socket type joints shall be assembled employing a quality two-step CPVC solvent cement and primer process or one-step approved CTS solvent cement that meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM F493. The standard practice for safe handling of solvent cements and primers shall be in accordance with ASTM F402. The solvent cement and primer or one-step cement used shall be listed by NSF® International for potable water use.
