Automatic Smoke Vent - Single Leaf

Automatic Smoke Vent - Single Leaf

BILCO automatic fire vents utilize the patented Thermolatch® positive hold/release mechanism. This unique latching device ensures reliable vent operation when a fire occurs and prevents inadvertent opening of the cover caused by wind, building vibrations or other factors. The Thermolatch® is equipped with a UL-listed 165° F (74° C) fusible link for automatic operation. In the event of a fire, heat breaks the fusible link, allowing powerful lifting mechanisms to open the vent cover instantaneously. Pull handles are provided for interior or exterior manual operation and products are fully insulated and gasketed for weather tightness.

Uses and Applications
Automatic Smoke Vents protect property and aid firefighters in bringing a fire under control by removing smoke, heat, and gases from a burning building. Smoke ventilation improves air quality and visibility to allow occupants to get out and firefighters to get in to do their job. Single leaf smoke vents are ideally suited for areas with smaller venting requirements such as elevator shafts or stair wells.

Assembly and Installation
Installation of BILCO automatic smoke vents is simply a matter of placing the vent over the roof opening and securing it to the roof deck through the holes provided in the base flange. The integral capflashing readily accepts roofing felts for built-up roofing applications, and BILCO's patented Bil-Clip® flashing system simplifies installation in single-ply roofing applications.

Materials and Finishes
Automatic smoke vents are available in either 14 gauge (1.9mm) paint bond G-90 galvanized steel construction or 11 gauge (2.3 mm) aluminum construction.

Codes and Certifications
Products are UL listed and comply with UL793 and UL 790 Class A (burning brand test) requirements. Vents can be supplied with built-in louvers and a fall protection screen to meet elevator code requirements. All BILCO products are designed to provide many years of trouble-free service. Should a part fail to function in normal use within a period of five (5) years - or longer, as indicated - from the date of purchase, a new part will be furnished at no charge.
