Floor Access Doors - Fire Rated

Floor Access Doors - Fire Rated

Fire rated floor access doors provide access between building floors while maintaining the fire rating of a 2-hour floor/ceiling assembly. Doors feature an optional UL Listed automatic closing system, intumescent fire resistant coating, and a pan cover that is designed to accept architectural flooring materials. Products are supplied with engineering lift assistance for easy, one-hand operation regardless of the finished flooring material.

Uses and Applications
Floor access doors provide access to equipment stored underground or below/between building floors. Type FR fire rated floor doors provide convenient access through a 2-hour building floor without jeopardizing fire code compliance. Doors accept custom floor covering materials, making them virtually hidden in interior building applications.

Assembly and InstallationInstallation of fire rated floor access doors is simply a matter of casting the door into a 2-hr floor ceiling assembly. Doors are supplied with built anchor flanges or straps to hold the door in place once the concrete has cured. The frame must be fully supported by concrete or steel for structural integrity and an intumescent fire resistant coating (supplied by BILCO) must be applied to the concrete surrounding the frame on the underside of the door.

Materials and Finishes
Type FR doors are available in 1/4" (6.3 mm) aluminum construction. Doors are mill finish aluminum with a bituminous coating applied to the exterior surfaces that come into contact with concrete when installed.

Codes and Certifications
Type FR Fire-Rated Floor Doors are UL listed for a period of two (2) hours in accordance with NFPA 80, NFPA 251 and ASTM E119. All BILCO products are designed to provide many years of trouble-free service. Should a part fail to function in normal use within a period of five (5) years - or longer, as indicated - from the date of purchase, a new part will be furnished at no charge.
