YORK®YVFA chillers deliver the lowest possible energy consumption and reduce lifecycle cost by combining industry leading variable speed screw compressor technology with integrated free-cooling economizer coils in a packaged design that’s simple to own and operate. Performance is assured by AHRI certification; the first time certification has been given to an air-cooled screw chiller with free cooling.
Efficiency
YVFA delivers the lowest possible operating cost compared to other air-cooled chillers with payback in as little as two years. For unsurpassed efficiency at part-load conditions, intelligent controls optimize the balance of using fans to move air over the free cooling coils with the outstanding efficiency of the VSD compressor. Designed with low liquid pressure drop in mind, the chiller also employs oversized pipes and fittings, a highly optimized free-cooling coil and an automatic bypass to prevent pumping through the coils when not beneficial.
Simplicity
The YVFA also simplifies operation with single-point control that easily accommodates process or building changes. When a new set point is required, adjustment can be made at the chiller control panel or through a building automation system. The free-cooling function automatically adjusts to deliver the best performance at the required conditions.
Reliability
In addition to efficiency and simple operation, the YVFA offers users superior reliability. Performance is assured from three generations of Johnson Controls expertise in variable-speed driven (VSD) technology, with over 10 years in VSD air-cooled screw chillers, including the 2005 EPA Climate Protection Award. Reliability is further ensured with liquid-cooled VSD, which keeps the electrical panel free of dust and dirt, and operating to the ambient temperature of 115F / 46C. Additionally, variable-frequency inverter technology enables a zero-inrush soft start and a high displacement power factor across the entire operating range. For critical process and data center applications, the Quick Start option achieves full load after a power-loss restart in four minutes or less.
