Production and Price Schedule for Brick Murals
0DESIGN: Client can provide exact drawings or provide a general theme from which Endicott will prepare final drawings for approval by the client.
DESIGN CHARGES: Endicott generally does not charge for design sketches if awarded the project. If the mural is given to another artist or the project is cancelled, a flat fee of $100 per sketch with a $500 maximum will be invoiced.
MURAL CHARGES: Standard Mural fees at Endicott Clay Products Company start at $95 per square foot for 4" thick units. This price includes sketches, mural brick, sculpting, drying, firing, and packaging the mural for shipment. Freight charges are additional.
If more relief is desired than the 4" thick units allow, Endicott can produce mural brick 6" to 12" thick. These projects will be quoted on an individual basis for thickness and complexity.
Unless otherwise specified, murals will be sculpted on 4" x 12"nominal face brick. Other size units will be considered on an individual basis at a slightly higher price.
From previous experience, we find that small murals require more work and detail than larger projects. A 6 square foot minimum or $570 is applicable. Smaller murals can be done, but at the $570 minimum.
INSTALLATION COSTS: Normally, any experienced brick mason can install a mural. The brick are sequentially lettered and numbered, and instructions are included. Installation takes slightly longer since the brick must be laid out in advance and joints must be struck following the contour of the mural relief. The artist need not be present during installation unless it is a very complicated project or the client desires his/her presence. In these cases, actual expenses will be charged, in addition to $200.00 per day including travel days. Typical installed costs vary from $10 - $30 per square foot.
NORMAL PROJECT SCHEDULE: One to two weeks for design. One week to two months for project sculpting and disassembling and preparation for kiln. Drying and firing of mural brick normally takes 4 weeks.
An estimated time lapse for mural from design to delivery is 6 weeks to 3 months.
PAYMENT: 50% down payment is required before work begins. Balance is invoiced at time of shipment.
STOCK MURALS: We stock a number of small murals at the plant for immediate shipment. These are 3’ wide x 4’ tall or 4’ wide x 3’ tall, 3’ x 3’, and 4’ x 4’.
