GreenCoat® – Architecture, Steel and Swedish Rapeseed Oil

GreenCoat® is SSAB’s brand for innovative, sustainable colour coated steel sheet material for metal roofs, wall claddings, façades and rainwater systems. GreenCoat® colour coated steels are available in more than 400 colours.

A number of buildings made from GreenCoat® have been honoured with many national and international architecture awards.

    Greener, better performance

All GreenCoat® products come with premium Nordic quality steel in the substrate, which is recognized worldwide as one of the best steels available on the market. On top, GreenCoat® products use Swedish rapeseed oil in the coating, making GreenCoat® colour coated steels unique on the market. These sustainable coatings do not only offer environmental advantages, but also increased performance.

GreenCoat® colour coated steels are highly resistant to corrosion, UV radiation as well as scratches. They provide builders with a lightweight material that is easy to work with, even down to -15°C. Additionally, steel is 100% recyclable and offers increased durability for years to come.

SSAB is also committed to the sustainable production of steel. SSAB aims to revolutionize the entire steelmaking process. SSAB plans to deliver fossil-free steel to the market at a commercial scale in 2026, and to largely eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from its own operations in around 2030. SSAB’s steelmaking process of fossil-free steel virtually eliminates carbon dioxide-emissions. The by-product from steelmaking would then be water.

On top, SSAB also supplies SSAB Zero™ - made from 100% recycled steel.

The GreenCoat® Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is available to give you details about how we produce GreenCoat® colour coated steel and care for the product lifecycle. You will find more information on www.ssab.com/GreenCoat
