Ventilated and insulated concrete floor IsolCupolex Plus

ISOLCUPOLEX PLUS is a patented system to create insulated and aerated concrete floors. The elements of the system, made of insulation material work as a formwork for the concrete to create a raised floor insulation. It is ideal when insulation is required and when there is a high potential for humidity or gas to come from the ground, as well as when the pavement layer has to be raised or backfilled.
The system is made of a 100% recycled plastic dome, that protects from the raising of humidity, and an insulation layer in EPS with a specific geometry and high level of insulation. ISOLCUPOLEX PLUS’s primary advantage is to have the insulation and aeration in one step and also to have the insulation layer on the outside of the cast-in-place concrete structure. In this way the concrete can work as a thermal flywheel providing an optimal average radiant temperature all year round.

ISOLCUPOLEX PLUS is adaptable to any project layout, moreover, the thickness of the insulation layer can be tailored in order to comply to any thermal insulation requirement.
The concrete slab geometry created with this system distributes all the loads from the top of the slab to the sub-base without loading and deforming the insulation layer. Moreover, there is no need to create a second reinforced slab, as in the case of a more traditional raised floor insulation, which saves significantly in time and money.

By installing the insulation and aeration in one step ISOLCUPOLEX PLUS saves time and money and gives the project value.

    Specification
    • Supply and installation of ISOLCUPOLEX® PLUS insulated and aerated flooring system, by Pontarolo Engineering spa (Italy) on a prepared plane surface. ISOLCUPOLEX® PLUS is made of EPS insulation elements interposed between the ISOLCUPOLE dome element (in recycled plastic) and the concrete cast (slab and pillars). The ISOLCUPOLEX® PLUS system consist of the elements listed here:1) ISOLCUPOLE H22, made of 100% recycled plastic with size of 56 x 56 cm and height of 22 cm. These elements, mutually connected, will be suitable for positioning the EPS elements and receiving the cast of class C (various RCK) concrete above the insulation elements and will form a matrix of pilasters with a distance of 56 cm in both directions and with a surface contacting the ground of about 455 cm2/m2. 2) ISOLPIEDE, element in EPS CS (10) 100 class E to be placed into the open leg formed between the ISOLCUPOLE domes in order to guarantee continuous thermal insulation of the lateral surface of the supporting pillars. 3) SOTTOPIEDE, element in EPS CS (10) 200 in class E, able to bear heavy loads, to be optionally positioned under the supporting pillars; if required by the project it should have thickness of 3 or 6 cm. 4)INSULATING PANELS (also the START PANEL), in EPS CS (10) 80 Class E, with a suitable shape and thickness of 8 – 30 cm, to be placed on top of the ISOLCUPOLE 5) ISOLSPONDINA element, in EPS CS (10) 80 class E, to guarantee lateral closure of the system during the casting and provide isolation of the lateral surface 7) Place of the steel reinforcement as per project; 8) Concrete C-Class pour (various RCK) with slab thickness of … cm (to be defined).
