    Zinc rhomboid tile

elZinc®'s Rhomboid Tile has a sleek and elegant appearance.

It is used to form the weathering layer in a fully supported zinc façade or roof, where the tile's design can be used in classical as well as contemporary architecture.

These zinc tiles are suitable for roofs pitched at 25º and above, and for façade work. The zinc tile can be cut, folded and edged just as in traditional zinc work, providing weather-tight joints at the zinc cladding's edges.

    Specification
    • Fully supported zinc cladding composed of elZinc® Rhomboid tiles. The tiles are made of elZinc titanium zinc, 0,65 or 0,7mm thick rolled to EN988 and ASTM B69-13.

Centre to centre joint width is 235mm. Cladding weight is 7,8kgs/m2 with 0,7mm thick tiles.

The tiles are interlocked with each other and fixed directly to the wooden substrate (softwood boarding or plywood or OSB sheathing) using one stainless A2 grade fastener. For buildings that require a non-combustible substrate for the zinc, trapezoidal metal sheet panels are used as a substitute for the wooden sheathing / boarding.

Façade application: The cladding is normally rear-vented behind the supporting sheathing / boarding with a ventilating space of at least 20mm (some countries require more). A simple breather membrane is normally installed between the zinc and the substrate to act as a separating layer.

Roofing application: The roof is either ventilated with a ventilating space of between 50 and 100mm (depending on rafter length) under the substrate, or installed in an unventilated (warm) roof design which includes suitable methods for condensation control. A structural underlay (and draining membrane) is often required under the zinc to ensure air circulation to its underside.
