The Geniale Ecosism® Seismic Coat is an innovative technological solution that, through a combined intervention that maximizes the benefit / cost ratio, allows both seismic safety and energy efficiency of existing buildings according to current regulations.
As indicated by the name itself, the Geniale Seismic Coat, applied to the outside of the building to provide it with a new seismic-resistant "skin", is made up of a thin slab of reinforced concrete cast in place inside two layers of material customizable insulation.
The casting, suitably sized at the design stage, is made integral with the existing structure by inserting appropriate anchors which, arranged at the level of the foundations and the floor curbs, guarantee maximum collaboration between the new system and the structure itself. Thanks to the use of the galvanized steel mesh characteristic of Ecosism®, the system is supplied with the pre-assembled insulation and with guides for the correct installation of the already prepared structural reinforcements, thus allowing to minimize operations and scraps of construction site.
Furthermore, to improve the bending behavior of the sheet and reduce the risk of instability outside the plane, it is possible to provide for the creation of appropriate horizontal and vertical reinforcement ribs. Finally, thanks to the particular conformation of the galvanized steel wire mesh, it is possible to create a particularly solid traditional plaster finish layer that guarantees maximum protection of the insulating material against impacts and weather events.
The Geniale seismic coat is produced to measure on the basis of the architectural survey in situ and according to the structural project developed by the technician in charge. The panels of the Seismic Coat, produced with a height equal to that of the floor of the structure, faithfully follow the elevations of the building (preparation of the forometries during the production phase) and can be customized by using different types of insulating material.
The Seismic Coat can be designed for different levels of increase in seismic and energy performance, depending on both the thickness and the materials used. To this end, by adopting specific products such as rock wool, it is possible to guarantee both an improvement in energy performance and an increase in the acoustic insulation and fire resistance of the building.
The patent, validated by cyclical tests on full-scale samples, was conceived and developed in collaboration with the University of Padua (ICEA Department).
