StellarCraft™ Galaxy Guardrail is a perforated aluminum railing, specifically for balconies. However, the Galaxy Guardrail effectively screens and guards really any area needed. At any rate, they create a division of space for privacy, while still providing transparency. In addition to regulating ventilation, noise, shade, and visibility, our Galaxy Guardrails offer a modern aesthetic tone. The large perforation pattern shown here is just an example. By referring to our perforating design guide, you design the pattern of your choice. You can even have up to 10 different shapes and sizes, if you want! If needed, we’ll help you develop just the right perforations to get the feel and look you’re after. MEETING CODE

StellarCraft™ Galaxy Perforated Aluminum Panels are used in all railing applications that must comply with IBC codes for structural strength and dimensions. The structural performance meets the IBC codes, 2012 edition. Therefore, it withstands a horizontal concentrated load of 50 pounds applied to one square foot. COLORFUL FINISHING OPTIONS

A good finish improves performance in resisting corrosion, formability, and aesthetics in perforated aluminum balcony railings. Finishing options for our perforated wall panels include either a clear anodized finish for class 1 coating, or a high-performance two-coat fluoropolymer finish in the color of your choice. Warranty period for the anodized finish is one year. However, high-performance organic coating is 10 years.

FIELD MEASURING

Field measuring, drafting and design for fabrication are the first steps needed prior to fabrication. When field measuring, verify actual locations of walls and other construction contiguous with metal fabrications by field measurements before fabrication. All our StellarCraft products get fabricated all in-house at Astro Metal Craft to your exact dimensions, perforating pattern, and finish.

Part 1 - GENERAL
1.1 WORK INCLUDED:
  A. Provide aluminum railing in lengths perapproved engineering drawings.
      1. Prefabricated perforated aluminum fence
      2. Mounting components and accessories
      3. Mechanical fasteners
1.2 SUBMITTALS:
  A. Material description and installation instructions.
  B. Shop Drawings
  C. Samples for Initial Selection
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE:
  A. Comply with Standards and Codes listed in Article 1.02 REFERENCES.
  B. Welding Qualifications: Qualify procedures and personnel according to the following:
      1. AWS D1.2/D1.2M, for aluminum.
1.4 WARRANTY:
  A. See manufacturer’s warranty for specific details.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:
  A. Deliver materials to the job site in good condition. Purchaser to store in clean, dry location properly protected against damage to finished surfaces.
  B. Store away from uncured concrete, masonry, or stucco.

Part 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS:
  A. Extrusion Alloy: 6061-T6 Series
  B. Perforated Panel Alloy 5052
  C. Screws, bolts, washers, hardware shall be stainless Steel or other corrosion resistant material.
2.2 FINISHES:
  A. Anodized Finish: Clear anodized to comply with AA-M12C22A41 for a class 1 coating, complying with AAMA 611, or:
  B. High-Performance Organic Finish: Two-coat fluoropolymer finish complying with AAMA 2605.
2.3 FRAME COMPONENTS:
  SPECIFIER: Perforations, including distance between perforations (NOT less than the thickness of the aluminum plate).NOT more than 10 different sizes and shapes of perforations are allowed. MAXIMUM size of any perforation cannot exceed 2 ½ inches. These perforated aluminum panels create a division of space for privacy, while still providing translucence. In addition to regulating ventilation, noise, shade, and visibility, perforated panels offer a modern aesthetic tone, perfect for balconies, decks, and other high places.
Galaxy Perforated Aluminum Guardrails
  A. Aluminum Tube Posts: 6061-T6 alloy, 0.250-inch wall thickness.
  B. Aluminum Tube Horizontals: ASTM B209, 5052 alloy, 0.125-inch thick.
  C. Exposed Fasteners: Button head screws or bolts, consistent with design of fence.
  D. Welding Electrodes: Comply with AWS requirements in D1.1 and D1.2.
  E. Aluminum Component Fasteners: Type 304 stainless-steel fasteners.

Part 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 PROJECT CONDITIONS:
  A. Field Measurements: Verify actual locations of walls and other construction contiguous with metal fabrications by field measurements before fabrication. Indicate field measurements on final shop drawings.
  B. Established Dimension: Where field measurements cannot be made without delaying the Work, establish dimensions and proceed with fabricating handrails and railings without field measurements. Coordinate construction to ensure that actual dimensions correspond to established dimensions.
3.2. INSTALLATION:
  A. Install work in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
